Mission Statement

The Laboratory Animals Veterinary Association (LAVA) is a division of the British Veterinary Association, specialising in the advancement of the health and welfare of laboratory animals.

LAVA supports the use of animals, where necessary, in biomedical research and product development. We insist on the maintenance of the highest standard of animal health and welfare that can be achieved within the confines of the research objectives.

Its membership includes veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses and technicians and persons eminent in the field of laboratory animals, giving a broad base of expertise to help achieve its aims through meetings, lectures, discussions and publications.
