Join LAVA
The Laboratory Animals Veterinary Association
A division of the British Veterinary Association
LAVA currently offer two levels of membership - Full Membership and Student Membership.
Full Membership
Full membership of LAVA is open to all veterinarians with a bona fide interest in the welfare and use of laboratory animals. Full members receive a subscription to Briefing, the Association's publication, as well as discounted registration fees for meetings and conferences. LAVA also operate an email list for news and announcements from the world of laboratory animal science and medicine.
Applications for membership should be submitted to the Membership Secretary for consideration at the next meeting of LAVA Council. The current annual subscription fee is £35.

Student Membership
Student membership of LAVA is open to veterinary students of UK universities who have an interest in the welfare and humane use of laboratory animals. Student members receive a subscription to Briefing, the Association's publication, and are added to the LAVA email list for news and announcements from the world of laboratory animal science and medicine.
Student membership is free, and there are two possible routes to join:
Applicants may be proposed by a current full member of LAVA, and their student status confirmed by a tutor or head of department at their university.
Alternatively, those who participate in the LAVA EMS scheme are automatically offered a one year membership to LAVA on successful completion of their placement. This period can be extended on request.
